GT: Huhh! Money!

July 8th, 2010 | Author: Prosperity Melandria Romero

It’s GT again and everybody is talking about money, moolah, dough. There is an old saying that money makes the world go round.  Ooh, how i wish i have that money so I can travel around the world  and buy the things i whim but then I was not born with a golden spoon.  My family is not rich, although my father was working in a five star hotel when i was little, he rarely gave us money because of his tight situation with my step mother.

My grand mother raise me with her own generous and loving hands. I was able to finish my secondary years thanks to the help of my scholarship and financial assistance from our school alumnae.

I have learned how to eat rice with sugar on it or just with soy sauce or just a banana with salt on it because I and my grand mother has no money to buy just even a simple viand.

I remember that most of my dress are hand me down from my wealthy cousins but yes i am too happy because i can wear imported and branded shirts and pants because of them.

When my father and his family move in with us,   my step mother is a typical step mother wicked and cruel.  I felt I was cinderella before , working to finance my study and working at home to satisfy her.  I used to help her too selling foods/viands in our front yard and that is where i learned to sell and be an entrepreneur in a way.  I used to sell different foods, accessories and avon products to my high school classmates and it was a great help to me.

When they separated, i worked hard to finance my study and to support my father  who does not want to work anymore. I used to walk miles and miles away just to go to school  and skip snack times when i was in  college, so as to save my money to spend it to a more important things like food, electricity and water.

But then, there is always the dream and drive to change my situation, although my father could not afford to send me to college (yes because he does not want to work anymore and was hook in drinking) i make ways so i can have a degree and a name of my own.

With some luck and blessings from our Good Lord, i was able to manage the darkest days of my life but if you think it’s over, well life is an unending journey,  although my husband family is wealthy enough but we were proud to say that we make a living with our own hardship.

He was trained to do that way, to live on your own when you have your own family, do not be dependent to what you already have.  Although he have lived lavishly as we say, getting the things he wanted, i was happy because he was able to cope up with our present financial situation.

I am so sorry if i make you somehow sad with my post but don’t think i am still bitter, I have learned to forgive my step mother and after the death of my father we are getting well just fine.

Me and my husband is still in the  beginning of achieving our dreams and although I am living well now, I have a stable job as a court employee, I can buy the things i wanted too, eat the foods that i crave , travel to the places i only see in tv and magazines and do the ways i just envied before, there are still a great need financially. After all, it’s a never ending process of working hard and spending your hard earned money.

32. What is the last big thing you purchased? We purchased a brand new sofa for our living room

33. Who would you want to be tied to for 24 hours? I am already tied. Tied at work and home.

34. What is a rumour someone has spread about you? I don’t want to remember because it is not worth remembering.

Are your child ready for school

July 1st, 2010 | Author: Prosperity Melandria Romero

Peachy is already 2 and 1/2 years old and just before the classes begun, we thought that it is best for her to be send to school.  We make an inquiry on a nearby center and we were shock when the detailed of the enrollment was already lay down to us. We wanted to enroll her to school because we wanted as early as now to enhance her capabilities because we believe that she was not learning at home because we were not there too long to teach her. But it was really shocking to know that education now a days is too pricey but yet we could not do anything about it because that is already the regular trend in any formal , traditional or conventional school.

I could not help but to reminisce that my parent did not have a problem with my tuition fees when i am still studying.  Although, i went to a public school in my elementary days and exclusive school in my high school and college days, my parent never pay for any single centavo in my secondary years and when i was in college, i have been a working student.  Good thing then, i can immediately have a  cash advance with my boss that time.

And now, i believe that we are going in to a dilemma of getting a good education but not too high price for our darling baby’s education.   Hope we can find a way.
